Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Larlebee.
What you can expect from us, what we ask of you, and what happens when something goes wrong. Written in plain English.
Last updated 22 October 2026
1. Who you’re agreeing with
Larlebee is run by Elijah Okokon, an individual (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Larlebee, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. Questions: privacy@larlebee.com.
2. Who can use Larlebee
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Younger family members use Larlebee only on a phone set up by their parent or guardian, who is responsible for that use and can remove it at any time.
- Guests invited to one event can use its page without an account; these terms still apply to what they write there.
- You may not use Larlebee if we have closed your account before for breaking these terms.
3. Your account
- Use your real name, or the name your family knows you by, and keep your sign-in to yourself.
- Tell us at privacy@larlebee.com if you think someone else has got into your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile.
4. What you add belongs to you and your family
- Stories, photos, recordings, messages and records you add stay yours (or your family’s). We claim no ownership of them.
- So that Larlebee can work, you give us permission to store them, copy them for backups, and show them to the people you and your family have chosen. This permission is only for running Larlebee for you, and ends when they are deleted, apart from backup copies, which expire as our Privacy Policy describes.
- Only add what you have the right to share. A photo or recording someone else made, or a document, may belong to them.
5. Recording other people
A family tree is about people who may not be on Larlebee. When you add someone:
- Record things you believe to be true, and say when you’re unsure. Where relatives remember differently, Larlebee keeps both versions.
- Be careful with private matters about living people, such as health, adoption, parentage or disputes. If in doubt, ask them first or leave it out.
- Respect a request to correct or remove someone’s details. They can also ask us directly, and we may remove details that shouldn’t be there.
6. Rules for everyone
Don’t use Larlebee to:
- harass, threaten, bully or shame anyone, or share someone’s private details to hurt them;
- deceive relatives, including money scams, pretending to be someone else, or changing a fund’s payment details dishonestly;
- share content that sexualises children, promotes violence or hatred, or is otherwise illegal;
- send spam or advertising;
- break into accounts, interfere with Larlebee, or copy information out of it in bulk by automated means.
You can report a message, photo or person from inside Larlebee. We may remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these rules. Where it is fair and safe to, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
7. Family admins
Each family has admins chosen by the family. They can let relatives in, change roles, remove members and manage the family’s settings. Larlebee does not settle family disagreements; we step in only when these terms or the law are broken.
8. Family contributions
- Contributions are records only. No money moves through Larlebee, and we are not a bank, payment service or trustee.
- Money sent between relatives is a matter between them. Check payment details with the treasurer you know before you pay, especially if Larlebee warns you they have recently changed.
- We are not responsible for money lost in payments made outside Larlebee.
9. Bee, the family historian
- Bee answers from your family’s records and shows its sources, but Bee can be wrong. Check anything important with your family.
- Nothing Bee suggests goes into your family’s records until someone in the family reviews and confirms it.
- Each plan includes a monthly amount of Bee use. Families can switch Bee off.
10. Plans and payment
- Larlebee’s free plan includes the allowances shown on our pricing page. Family Plus gives larger allowances.
- Before you pay for anything, we will show you the price, what it includes and how to cancel. Where you live may give you extra rights, such as a cooling-off period; these terms don’t take them away.
11. Changes to Larlebee and to these terms
- We keep improving Larlebee, so features may change. If we ever close Larlebee, we will give families at least 90 days’ notice and a way to download their records.
- If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell members in the app before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
12. If something goes wrong
- We work hard to keep Larlebee running and your records safe, with daily backups. But we provide Larlebee “as is”, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that aren’t a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, or for what members, guests or Bee say. Our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem, or 50,000 naira (about US$35) if you paid nothing.
- Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
13. Ending
You can stop using Larlebee and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires us to. What happens to your information then is set out in our Privacy Policy.
14. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you can bring a claim in your own country’s courts. Before going to court, please write to us first; most problems can be sorted out quickly.
Start with you, your parents and your grandparents.
It takes about a minute. Then send the link to your family group and let everyone fill in what they know.
